I read the editorial Green rupee in a mess by Sunita Narain that was posted on our discussion group. I was impressed with what she wrote. I visited the website of Sunita to get some more information about her. And after doing some Google search I located that Sunita Narain in 2005, was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India; she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science by the University of Calcutta in 2009. She was also conferred with the Raja-Lakshmi Award for the year 2009 from Sri Raja-Lakshmi Foundation, Chennai.
However, in most of the websites I did not find any mention about what her education qualification(s) are. Of course, it is not necessary to have any type of specialised degree, like in environment, for one to be a concerned activist in the field, with sufficient authority. But I do not know why Sunita has not disclosed her own qualification. Does anyone in Goanet know about her educational qualification(s)? U. G. Barad
