The IOA (Indian Olympic Association) wants the IOC (International Olympic
Committee) to change its Constitution in line with the IOA to permit
chargesheeted candidates to stand for election. We also have some problem with
the age limit and restriction to the number of terms permitted. The IOC is
rightfully standing firm to cleanse the system, but with our politicians
backing, we firmly told the IOC to respect the laws of our land which permit
such candidates, unless convicted, to stand for elections! The whole world is
going by the IOC rules, and ethics is very important in sports. Naturally
chargsheeting is a "minor" matter to be ignored by the lawmakers who are the
elected lawbreakers, by and large ruling our country. Their personal interests
and egos come above the interests of our sportspersons and the national
interest!Perhaps for them the Olympic motto should be changed to Higher,Faster,
Stronger pollution of decorum, ethics and morality as exhibited by our
Parliamentarians who are bereft of, what is known as " sportsman spirit"!The
result will be that our sportspersons may not be permitted to take part in the
Olympics or if permitted, not under the Indian Flag. More international
disgrace if the IOA is expelled as member for this reason of tainted officials!
