Mr. Salim A. Veljee Director FDA Altinho Panjim and 2) Mr Sanjit Rodrigues Commissioner of City of Panjim Sir/s Sub: SEWAGE CONTAMINATION/ COOKING FOOD SUPPLY AND GARBAGE LITTER ON D.B.MARG It is strange that the heart of the city of Panjim, near the Panjim jetty, large amount of food is being cooked at the top floor of the building where Virani shop is situated on the ground floor at the D.B. Marg. The food supply is diverted through the large cans across the road to the jetty where the Casinos are anchored at the Mandovi River. (Photo is attached) = (FDA needs to inspect the food supply whether it is hygienic and also if illegally cooking is taking place.) Who has permitted them to cook and supply food to this Casino Pride and others of offshore gambling vessels is a mystery. Also this structure where this cooking is being done appears to be a permanent metallic closed structure which is illegally constructed without the permission from CCP. (CCP needs to carry out the inspection). The photographs clearly indicate that the kitchen activity is carried out and the cooked food in great magnitude is delivered to the casino ships. Cooked vessels in aluminum cans can be seen at the jetty and at the pavement of the building. (Photo is attached). The sewage/kitchen leakage also is seen on the road via their pavement in one of the photo. (CCP needs to inspect). Regarding supply of groceries, vegetable etc are down loaded from the pick through the crates and big onion sack is also carried by their staff of Neo Magestic/ Casino Pride is also seen. It is a daily affair.(Photos are attached) The Mayor Surendra Furtado had asserted that no permission will be given to Casinos to put up offices in Panjim under the CCP administration. How come hundred of kilos of food are cooked in heart of Panjim city and the waste discarded on the main road through the pavement? Will the CCP administrator explain and stop this rot, before severe epidemic and health hazards inflicts the residents of Panjim due to sewage contamination and garbage litter? Also more expansion of such activities may be possible in near future which needs to be stopped right now. It is requested that the Director of FDA and the Commissioner of CCP can inspect this premises together and take necessary action as per the rules. We both met the FDA Director in person in Altinho, and explain the severity of the issue. He demanded that this may be put on record. Thanks for his good gesture and advice.
