REJOINDER OF LETTER TO SURENDRA FURTADO, MAYOR CCP APPEARED IN GT ON 24.9.2013
The letter appears to be hypocritical and silly and Furtado cannot keep the cake and eat it too. How can you oppose casinos and defend the institution of a “Gaming Commission”? They are complimentary. Surendra expects Goans to praise and defend him, whilst he covertly opposed casinos in River Mandovi. What a cheap expectation! Does the Mayor expect Goans to praise him for every statement he makes in the press backed by dubious or non concrete actions? In the last 15 days, the Mayor has misused the print media, thanks to obliging or silly reporting in a section of Goan news papers. In one case he has ordered the D.G.P of Goa police to prevent casino revellers from breaking empty beer bottle on Panjim roads. In another statement he has requested T.C.P to stop issuing building licenses sans parking facilities. Still further on Surendra Furtado blames Parrikar for all the ills of the Panjim city. Accusing all and sundry during the period he is in office. By misusing section of the press will not help or get the Mayor any further. While the list of Surendra Furtado’s demands as to what others should do is endless, what is the Mayor’s role and actions is not at all addressed. Surendra Furtado is ill adviced also to blame Captain of Ports too for the garbage and sewage menace affecting Panjimites. It is the CCP which issues final building and other licenses clearances. Strangely the Mayor demands praise for his press notes sans actions. If at all the Gaming Commission starts under your control which will be impossible for you to regulate, and later when you are not in power, the creation of "gaming commission" will be further misused by others. We all know how much you could regulate the garbage & sewage menace, parking in Panjim and high taxation of the Aam Admi till now. Hope you desist from this evil of gaming commission.
