The Right to Information Act was enacted to ensure transparency and accountability in public life. So all the NGO’s should also come under the purview of RTI regardless of the quantum of funding and any other support they receive from the government. The nomenclature of ‘substantial funding’ should not come in the way as a safe shelter for the NGO’s to try and circumvent the RTI Act to keep details of their affairs and activities under wraps.
