Memories awaken at Floriano's grouse against the shabby treatment meted to his
wife by a Qatar Airways Vienna flight stewardess.

Our dotor J.C.'s brother-in-law (sister's husband) was while he lived, a very
powerful man at Doha Airport. Nominally the airport head of Darwish Travels, in
reality nothing of importance happened at Doha airport including traffic,
reservations, baggage, customs and  immigration, unless Felix knew of it or was
consulted on it.

He knew every Sheikh, every important man there was to know and most Goans of
the time. If I were taking a flight, he would upgrade me even on the European
and North American sectors without asking him, not that I would have ever asked
for such a favor. He came to Doha when it was just a watering hole and grew
with it, being on first-name terms with all its rulers.

In behaviour and at heart he was just a simple Goan from Parra, minding his own
business and doing good to others whenever he had an opportunity. He died
prematurely while I was still there (I think) and would have been proud in his
own simple way if he were able to have seen his beloved Qatar today transformed
from just another small oil producing desert country to one of the richest
nations on God's good earth.

Roland.
