Prof.Sebastiao Eufemio Furtado memorial- Ms Ivana Furtado, Chess Award Late Prof. Sebastiao Furtado from Chinchinim was a devoted and dedicated and respected educator. The parents and students, who endeared to him, lovingly recall his motivating and inspiring contributions and sacrifices, both in the academic and co-curricular activities.
Ms Ivana Furtado, born on 16/3/199 is his great granddaughter and daughter of Mr Eli and Mrs Jenifer Furtado. She is a young child prodigy excelling in the game of chess and her phenomenal achievements in Chess, at school, State, National and International level make us, and the villagers of Chinchinim rightly feel proud, honoured and happy The purpose of the award is to introduce chess in Chinchinim schools and encourage participation in the intelligent indoor game and also to perpetuate the memory of late Prof.Sebastiao. Material , coaching, etc. will be provided to schools in the near future and tournament may also be considered .If suitable student from Chinchinim schools is not avaiable, then any student hailing from Chinchinim and , studying in any school in Goa for the academic year will be considered. The final selection will be done by the P.C.Trust. The award is instituted since 16/3/2012 by his admirers, friends ,well-wishers at Chinchinim . The prize amount is Rs 6000= p.a along with the citaion and will be distributed for the first time in Feb 2013, at the special prize distribution function of the P.C.Trust.
