> On Nov 24, 2013, at 6:21 AM, Frederick FN Noronha wrote thus to Dr Falcao: 1: You're needlessly targetting a community and it's abilities! 2: So why be dismissive of an entire community, even if just trying to make a point about someone else's typos/carelessness? 3: If you replace the word "Sardar" above with "Goan" or "Goan Catholic", you can decide for yourself how fair such stereotypes are. FN 4: PS: Accept your point about the misspelling of Tehelka though. 5: Tarun Tejpal is a member of it. And while he definitely deserves to be held accountable for his treatment of his women staff, Tehelka's journalism, or much of it, has been pioneering. COMMENT: While I agree with the stereotyping point (#3 supra) made by FN, I am not convinced that Dr. Falcao had targeted any community or even been dismissive of that community. As one who coined the word Tejelka, I invite you understand that it was NO typo or act of carelessness, rather as a word I derived from Tejpal and Tehelka. I agree with #5 (supra). The unfortunate result of all this: All that 'pioneering work' is now tainted for good. That was the point of my Tejelka article. jc
