This could also be useful in cases like Wine, where they decided to change the versioning from a revision date to a version number. FindPackage reports that the latest version is 20050310, whereas the newest one in the recipe store is actually 0.9.7

If you use the CVS version of Compile, here's a patch you can apply that'll give you a functionality as similar to what you described as I could get using the OptionParser.

Examples:
  NewVersion --source 3.3.5 qt 3.3.6
  NewVersion --former-name Wine --source 0.9.7 WineX 0.9.13

I'm ccing the devel list in case they want to add these options.

Hello,

I just wanted to create a new version of the QT recipe for QT 3.3.6.
So I did :
NewVersion QT 3.3.6

But NewVersion created hte recipe using the latest recipe, which is QT
4.1.2.

It could be interesing to be able to specy the 'source' recipe.
For example :
NewVersion qt 3.3.6 --source qt 3.3.5

Regards,

Tom
