What are those Makefiles supposed to do ; why are they needed at all?
They don't appear to be quite the same as normal makefiles, not making
anything and requiring a VERSION.
They're for packing releases. Their main purpose is "make dist". For
some packages (Scripts), regular "make" does compile some code.
(perhaps related) Why aren't there recipes for them as there are for
normal packages?
It's not a good answer, I know, but it's because recipes usually take
sources and shape them into GoboLinux packages, and those programs are
already in GoboLinux package format natively. I agree there should be
recipes for those, eventually. Maybe we need an is_gobo mode for those
in Compile.
(Hoping these are helpful questions as well as simply wanting the answers)
Maybe this info should even be put in the wiki.
