I'm thinking of creating a wrapper script for Compile and InstallPackage
so that one only has to gie one command to install an app. The application should be installed from recipe or from package depending on settings in a
configuration file. This could later be used to update an app to the
latest available version and maybe system wide updates. A bit like
Manager, but for the prompt. Perhaps the script could wrap tools like
DisableProgram and SymlinkProgram as well?

I was thinking about something like that sometime ago. Probably having
such kind of central script could make it easier for the user to
perform typical system management actions, like update, install,
remove, disable or enable a package (without having to consult the
documentation of many scripts).

Yes, that's the reason I want such script. With only one API for the users to learn and remember things like those you mention becomes easier (I believe). I know I had a hard time first of with GoboLinux with CompileProgram/Compile and I could never remember the names of the DisableProgram or RemoveProgram scripts.

That's the way other distros use to have they functionalities, right?
Not that this means this is the right way, but it certainly easies the
initial usage of GoboLinux for those coming from Gentoo, RedHat,
Debian, etc.

It's not that I want to do it like they're doing but that I like the idea of only using one command. Another benifit for us is that one could easily change the functionallity of the backbones, such as Compile, without the user noticing anything, it's wrapped in the script.

My question is: what should it be called?
git - GoboLinux Install Tool or perhaps gpm - GoboLinux Program Manager?

Probably not good options, since they already being used by other programs...
I don't have a good suggestion right now :-/

Those were just examples and everyone is free to come up with own suggestions. Hopefully some will do that, because I don't like my suggestions either :*).
