I agree. What I've read about Compile gives me the impression that it is an excellent project. However, as a strong supporter of the principal of least privilege I think Compile should be able to run as a regular user. It is also my hope that Zero Install will adopt Compile as it's method of compiling from source. However, it will only be adopted if it can be used as a normal user as complete non-root installation is one of the main goals of the Zero Install project.
