Thanks for that, an updated Manager would be great to have in any case. I don't know just how far in you are, but you might find it nice to use AbsTk to build the interface and add GTK+ support to it, so it would work everywhere. Someone else is working on an updated Qt4 version of it as well, I gather, so you might be able to work together that way and save duplicating effort.
I'd also suggest you take a look at Freshen and the libraries it provides, that might be helpful in finding and installing the updates. Current Manager has suffered a bit from lack of attention and has a few problems, so getting everything onto a common platform would be handy.
