We could add a NewVersion --local mode that forced a local recipe, and default to using the ones from the store otherwise. That probably leads to less unexpected behaviour, since you're usually not thinking about where it came from other than in exceptional cases like this. In those ones you know what you want to do, it's the cases where you don't that lead to problems like this. Or there could be an interactive choice. Then it could show a diff too. -Michael
