Did you enable it in the kernel configuration? `zgrep
CONFIG_GOBOHIDE_FS /proc/config.gz`. I am running it here on 3.1.1 and
it is working, so it does work for 3-series kernels (although I
haven't tried 3.2 - if the patch applies cleanly I generally expect it
to work for a new version, but it's not so guaranteed).
