Hi all,

I am stating in on setting up my new system, and I will be using GoboLinux
a basis for the operating system (to be specific it is going to be
TinyCore+GoboLinux design). I am wondering about a couple of issues as I
get started.

First I was wondering what the FHS equivalent of srv/ in Gobo's layout. Is
it Files? Not quite sure b/c srv/ seems like something inbetween Users and
Files. (see http://www.linuxbase.org/betaspecs/fhs/fhs.html#purpose16a)

Second, I am planning to have an SSD + HDD setup. So basically I need
partitions on the SSD for relatively non-volatile files, e.g. Programs and
another for more volatile files, e.g. Users. But it seems like I should
maybe have another partition for very volatile files, e.g. System/Variable.

So my thought is this:

  RAM (tmpfs)
    1 /System/Variable/tmp

  SSD
    1 /Kernel/Boot
    2 /

   HDD
     1 /Users, /Files, /Depot and /srv?
     2 /System/Variable
     3 swap

Notice HDD partition #1. Seem like all of those should be on the same
partition. Does that makes sense? And if so, would that now indicate that
maybe the hierarchy could use a new top layer there? What would it be
called? Thinking as I write this, maybe it should be more like:

    Files/
      Users/
      Depot/
      Serve/
      Share/ (old Files)

Or something like that.

What do you think? Did I get the partitioning basically right? Did I miss
anything that is actually volatile and needs to be on the HDD? Any and all
advice others can give me in this regard would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Trans
