Its done by the file system. Look at the start of the log file (level of INFO) and it will tell you what the unix domain socket is. Change it so you can open, read, and write to it and you'll be happy.
It would be nice to have this configurable. e.g. what user/group/perm should the socket be. I don't know how much security god has but it would be nice if a daemon running as joe.user could be controlled by joe.user. The alternative would be to have a god per joe.user -- which is what I'm leaning towards in my set ups. Still playing around with all this.
