Ah, no I missed that.  The error message says:

    *** Problems with conf-pcre!
    It is required that you edit the file /godi.conf
                                          ^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, you are correct.  There is something seriously wrong with libtool
on this Mac.  I couldn't build pcre manually either.

So I built rocketboost on another Mac, after installing wget as a
dependency.  I set (the correct) godi.conf to say to build a
godi-base-pcre and the install worked beautifully.

So, sorry for the false alarm!

I don't actually need godi on this working Mac, but after the install,
I was able to copy the entire godi tree to the troublesome Mac, and
now things work there.  I assume I would continue to have problems
with anything in godi that might need to make a C shared library, but
at least I can compile my production apps where I need them.
