Hello, Gophers, On Saturday, July 15, 3:30pm-4:15pm, the Go team will be hosting a Diversity Forum at the Gophercon community day. It is very important to me, personally, that the Go community be inclusive and welcoming to people of all sorts. I grew up in Texas as the child of Indian immigrants and so have faced my share of aggression; but now, as an Asian male in tech, I enjoy very comfortable acceptance. Sadly, there are many who are not as well accepted and have had terrible experiences in tech and, yes, in the Go community.
The first step in making our community more inclusive is understanding the ways in which we make people feel excluded. We are collecting anonymous stories of aggressions, microaggressions or other manifestations of bias which diverse individuals have faced in the Go ecosystem. These stories will be curated and shared (anonymously) at the start of the Gophercon diversity session to help get the discussion rolling. To submit an anonymous story, please use this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSePhFql3VlSPAuBjj7h8TcdxjO61svaRGTD3kRDB0Kg7d-Omw/viewform You do not need to attend Gophercon to participate in this questionnaire.
