- "No alvorecer, quando é que se pode discernir a
luz que chega, da escuridão que se vai?"
Um aluno respondeu:
- "Quando eu puder diferenciar uma cabra de um burro."
- "Não." - disse o rabino.
Outro aluno fez sua tentativa:
- "Quando eu diferenciar uma palmeira de uma figueira."
- "Não." - disse novamente o rabino.
Impacientes, os alunos pressionaram o mestre:
- "Ora, então qual é a resposta certa?"
E o rabino respondeu:
- "Somente quando você olhar no rosto de cada homem e
cada mulher e neles reconhecer seu irmão e sua irmã.
Só então haverá luz. Qualquer outra coisa ainda é escuridão."
