With just over 24 hours to go in TPR(0,4), things feel as though they are accelerating. Since the last update, both golfer participation and solutions submitted have increased by over 33% bringing us up to 57 golfers and 441 solutions.
The competition has continued to intensify at all levels: * Ton and Eugene continue to duke it out, with an ever-increasing horde of sub-170 pursuers close on their heels. Ton is looking to become the first repeat TPR winner while Eugene is looking for a long-awaited TPR vicory. At this point, the O'Reilly book is completely up for grabs! * BoB has made his first appearance, besting Ton by one hundredth of a stroke. Welcome back BoB. * Last month's uber-beginner Lolly Pop has entered the fray with a sub-200 opening shot. Should be interesting to see where he ends up. Keep an eye on him! * A team named "jacoph", has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging packs of Perl hackers worldwide to band together and overthrow their 229.19 stroke solution. * Previous beginner leaders pom and Guillermo were blown out of the water by a Alexander Onokhov's sneak attack. After spending 4 straight days locked in a remote Siberian cabin, Alexander whittled his solution down to an incredible first-time-golfer score of 177.32 before submitting, sending shockwaves through the Perl Golf community. * Alexander is now caught up in a battle with Martin Carlsen. Who will emerge the victor and take home the ActiveState swag? Enjoy, --Dave
