[Lots o' interesting data snipped] > Amir "Mr Consistency" Karger finished yet again in his customary > 11-20th range.
After tasting the sweet nectar of third place for just a few hours early on in the tournament... I'll let you in on my secret strategy for moving up in the career money leaders table. I note that several people have played in only two or three tournaments. Which means that if I suffer through enough contests (and get exercise and eat green leafy vegetables) I may survive long enough to hit the top ten. I've actually managed to get to #7 on Yanick's cumulative y-index list with just that strategy. I'm close to tied with Qingning Huo and Chris Dolan (two other distressingly consistent players) and waaaaaaaay behind #6. Maybe if we can convince Ton, MTV, and Eugene to referee the next 6 tournaments I can make some progress. > In a remarkable odyssey through 10 long and arduous > tournaments, and without the benefit of a top 10 finish, Do ya have to rub it in? I just take it as proof that I'm a 100% red-blooded human. Aliens aren't particularly welcome in America these days. In fact, I think there's a bill circulating through Congress that would outlaw Europe, as well as any other country with a funny sounding name. (Canada gets to stick around since they support the economies of Detroit, Seattle, and the entire state of Minnesota. And provide us with our only good hockey players. (OK, I actually know nothing at all about hockey.)) > he has > endured unspeakable mental and physical anguish (including being > pelted by barrages of flaming fauna missiles), More like barrages of "You're going to play on the computer *again*?!" Less flame, more shame. > to finally and > triumphantly tortoise-crawl past his arch-rival /-\ on the money > list Interestingly, I'm still behind Andrew in Yanick's BOG. OTOH, I've got you womped on y-index :) You've got to love statistics. Maybe we should have a competition for best competition results? Oh I see. BOG doesn't include TPR06 yet. > -- albeit with a noticeable limp, singed hair, sundry peck > and puncture wounds, and patches covering both his eyes. I believe I may have come up with another Perlgolf motto, paraphrasing Eric Raymond: With enough eyeballs, all algorithms are golfable. Speaking of which, I'd better order some more eyeballs from my supplier in Mexico before our beloved president slaps more trade tariffs on them. > Amir Karger is my tortoise-crawlin' hero. > (Ahem, sorry, that was for the googlism robots). I'll take whatever praise I can get. -Amir __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Web Hosting - Let the expert host your site http://webhosting.yahoo.com
