Unfortunately, there is no way to get the additional information (e.g., details, reviews, etc.) via the Google AJAX API. Since you'll undoubtedly be using the RESTful portion of the API, you might try Yahoo!'s Local Search API. It's not Google, but it does include reviews and a couple of other tidbits of potentially useful information if they have it. Major downside, though, is that I believe it's limited to North America.
