First thing you're going to need to do is create a custom form with its action attribute set to search.php. From there, you have two different options. Probably the easiest would be to have search.php build the results page blank, but with an AJAX search control (see http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/index.html#The_Hello_World_of_Google_Search ). At the end of the onload handler, instead of calling some string literal, you would have the php insert the query that the user specified. Alternatively, probably the faster method would be to set up search.php to run the query through the REST side of the API and just write the results into the page (see http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/index.html#fonje ). If you do this, though, you must remember to include the Google branding near the results.
