Can I retrieve data using Google API and how can I do it? I am working for www.egranary.org which is a digital library in a hard drive for the developing world where internet connection is expensive.

We want to collect exsiting metadata for the digital library's catalog system, and we think Google might share some metadata of the websites with the public through API service. If so, where can I get the related information? Can you give me some advice on this?
