Serge, I checked ok-board.com. It looks more like a keyboard mapping tool than a transliteration engine.
As a native speaker I can tell you that when you type a word using an English keyboard, you do not want to worry about what the target word would be. For example, 't' has two different letters in the persian/ arabic alphabet. Using a wrong one can build a misspelled word. If I type 'marboot' i would like the engine to give me مربوط and not مربوت. This can only be achived by checking against a good list of words. Very similar to a spell checking process with auto correction. I have looked and could not find an open source project for transliteration.
