Hmm. I don't understand why including the options object with the  
{includeHistoricalEntries:1} in it wouldn't return a feed that  
included historical entries unless you're loading a feed that hasn't  
been crawled before such that Google wouldn't have any historical  
entries in its cache. It would appear as though the support for the  
option is still in the code. There's also support for a numEntries  
property to that options object so that, if you should want to set the  
number of entries on individual feeds, rather than the whole control,  
you can do that.
