You can actually dl the videobar code and customize it according to  
your own purposes. So yes, you can absolutely alter the code to  
produce a lightbox-like effect.

As for the dropshadow issue, without seeing your page in action, it's  
tough to tell why you're not able to pick up the player boxes with  
JQuery.
