Just for your information... I switched to yahoo now and use their BOSS Service. One might discuss if google or yahoo is the better search machine, but with the yahoo API I get much more results than with the google API. There is no way I can use google. And 2nd: the yahoo API is much easier to use IMO. You sign up for a key, then you just read the yahoo url with your key and get back a xml file. (it now took me 5 Minutes, while my first try with json and ajax took me 2 hours)
3th: I've read with the google API you are limited to 1000 searches per day. There is no limitation with the yahoo search API.
