Remove your appendChild call.
Add this code at the _beginning_ of your initialize() function:

google.feeds.Feed.prototype.load =

apiFeedLoad.call(this,
function(feedResult) {
var entries = feedResult.feed.entries;
for (var i=0, entry; entry = entries[i]; i++) {

callback(feedResult);
