Check out this blog post. It's written for use with the AJAX side of the API, but you could easily utilize the concepts demonstrated. Namely, since the API makes available up to 64 image results across 8 separate requests (i.e., 8 results per request), simply request multiple pages back-to-back. You could very easily end up with two sets of 32 results, or even one set of 64 results per search query.
