The answer to this question is both yes and no. Let me explain. You can absolutely run the query site:tumblr.com superman through the Search API. But you probably won't get nearly the same results as you would through a regular Google search because the API's results generally don't match exactly, and especially when using search operators like site: . The best workaround for this is to set up a Custom Search Engine that's restricted to tumblr.com and use the Search API to poll the CSE.
