Google does not currently offer an auto-complete API for anything but a web search using the CustomSearchControl.
In admittedly brief testing, this didn't work for me. Simply put, I don't think the API incorporates reverse phone number lookup on a regular basis. The API really isn't designed to do statewide searches for businesses. To be certain, you can set a searcher to search for corresponding businesses in the bounding box of a given state, but most states don't have regular rectangular borders, so there's no way to guarantee that you won't get something from the neighboring state. Further, the API will only return up to 32 results across 4 separate requests. So if you search for "gas station" or "grocery store" or "bank," etc., you will never get a comprehensive list. So, unfortunately, the bottom line here is that you probably can't do much of what you're wanting to do using the LocalSearch API. Sorry! Jeremy R.
