Although I am not a legal expert (and you should consult someone who is if you 
have any doubts whatsoever about what I'm about to say), I believe that the 
general rule is that, unless you have a license agreement of some sort to use a 
service, you do not have permission to use it. This would be the case with the 
"unofficial api" which you have referenced. I have never seen a license 
agreement or terms of service for its specific use, and so, even if you can 
reverse engineer its usage, it would be illegal to do so.
