It's possible to build a "Gadget" containing script code, and install the gadget on pages hosted on Google Sites.
Gadgets API developer documentation: http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/dev_guide.html ______________________________________________________ Rather than write your own feed-reader gadget, you can use an existing one. For example, here is one: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?type=gadgets&url=www.ajaxgaier.com/iGoogle/rss-reader%2B.xml DISCLAIMER: I'm NOT affiliated with the author of that gadget. I'm not liable for any issues that may arise. Proceed at your own risk. Here's how you can install that gadget on a page hosted on Google Sites: - Edit a page on your Site. - Put the edit cursor at the page position where you want to install the gadget. - Open the page editor's "Insert" menu. - At the bottom of the "Insert" menu, choose "More gadgets...". - The "Add a gadget to your page" dialog appears. - Click: "Add gadget by URL". - In the box labeled "Enter the URL for a gadget you want to add", paste the following URL: http://www.ajaxgaier.com/iGoogle/rss-reader%2B.xml - Click the "Add" button. - The gadget's configuration options should appear. Initially, set the gadget's options as follows: - In the "RSS feed" box, enter your feed URL. - Ignore the top "Title" box. - Leave the "Number of Items" set to 9, initially. - Change the "Font Size" to 9. - Enable the "Show bullet before items" option, if desired. - Enable the "Reload feed every time ..." option, if desired. - Set the "Reload Frequency" as desired. - In the "Display" options, set the "Width" as desired. - Set the "Height" to 150, initially. - Leave the "Include a scrollbar ..." option disabled. - Leave the "Include a border ..." option enabled. - Leave the "Display title on gadget" option enabled. Note: If the "Display title on gadget" option isn't visible, scroll down (using the options dialog's scroll-bar) until that option appears. - In the "Display title on gadget" text-box, replace the default title with your own title (e.g. the name of your feed). - Click the "OK" button. - Save the page. - Test the page (in various browsers) and see if the gadget is displayed correctly. - If you want to adjust the settings: Edit the page again, click the gadget, and click "Properties". - If you want to remove the gadget: Edit the page again, click the gadget, and click "Remove". DISCLAIMER (repeated): I'm NOT affiliated with the author of the aforementioned gadget. I'm not liable for any issues that may arise. Proceed at your own risk. -- omr -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google AJAX APIs" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
