There is no (published) hard limit. Rather, there are dynamic throttling mechanisms in place to detect potential abuse of the system. That said, the throttling mechanisms have been - and will be - getting tighter since the announcement that the Image Search API has been deprecated. You can expect this to continue until the service is discontinued no later than 2014.
