I think Rick sums it up rather nicely and fairly, ... unfortunately. However on the up side, projects such as http://code.google.com/p/gaevfs/wiki/H2GAE might allow us to use normalization, RDB concepts, standard JPA and allow full portability with existing non GAE projects. I think that's what we all need to start pushing towards.
