Granted thats a band-aid that might fix that one problem, but what do you do when query latency is currently over 1200 ms, http://code.google.com/status/appengine/detail/datastore/2010/03/03#ae-trust-detail-datastore-query-latency I would like google to slow google.com down to 1200 ms query in solidarity for us poor suckers who try to run our business on top of app engine.
