Hi Joa, Glad you were able to solve your problem. Sorry, I should have pointed you to the upgrade instructions to get you immediately going (BTW, they do exist, though they are located in the Google Plugin for Eclipse docs: http://code.google.com/eclipse/docs/updating_the_plugin.html ).
Do you know what went wrong with your first approach? Using the zip file for the App Engine SDK is still a supported use case, so there's value in debugging that if you're available to help out.
