At a high level, it seems like *.appspot.com would cover our other
application versions such as

other-version.latest.my-app.appspot.com

However, this post says that it might work for one subdomain level
deep, but more levels deep violates the spec:

I'm trying to pre-install the wildcard appspot certificate in my
user's desktop app which is communicating with a version of my GAE
application, but the user is still being prompted to trust the
certificate.  Does anyone know if there's a way around this issue?
