We are currently experiencing an issue with XMPPService.getPresence() always returning false for a couple of specific users even though the users are online. It is working great for several 100s other Gtalk users though.
The users (Gmail Gtalk Id) are able to see our GAE app XMPP "buddy" and can send messages to it and get auto replies from our app through XMPP too. The issue is specific to our app not being able to see the status to these users. We faced the exact same issue with another user a few weeks ago, but the issue resolved on its own after a while without any change on the Gtalk side of this other user.
