I was wondering about the same question for task queues (http:// groups.google.com/group/google-appengine-java/browse_thread/thread/ 18ee8bfbbfd309fd), but nobody answered. I filed a bug report (http:// code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=4564) and mentioned cron in it. You might want to star the issue to get more attention from the GAE team.
