I do use App Engine and I do develop in Python to use it, that is why "develop in Python" is not an answer.
For me and many others, Python is not a general replacement language. It is a language I would use in certain cases. I would however much rather use specific other languages for specific projects and therefore am awaiting an official response regarding new languages for App Engine. I think it is in Google's own interest to add languages if the goal of App Engine is to attract a large crowd of developers.
