Arun, I apologize if my post seemed too harsh. My main point was to try to convince the gae community that there are alternatives in place that obviate the need for this feature, so it's not one we should ask the GAE team to work on right now. When you said
> Definitely and an IMPORTANT one.... that led me to believe you *did* want the GAE team to spend a lot of time on it. Since I don't want them to spend a lot of time on it, and since there are currently very easy ways to get the same benefits, I figured I should post my own opinion. Part of a sounding board's purpose is to determine what's worth doing and what's not. I would prefer that the community encourage (by starring issues or by calling things IMPORTANT in discussions here) the GAE team to focus on things that the we the community can't fix or workaround ourselves. For example, any of us can easily write a script that automatically commits our project to source control every time I upload it to the cloud. Or we can include zipme.py in our application as described in sylvain's link. However, i certainly cannot write a script that makes https start working for the entire cloud. Therefore, in my opinion the "downloading my application" issue should be categorized "it would be nice to have someday" and the https issue should be categorized "IMPORTANT". -peter --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group.
