Is it possible to connect to externally hosted databases (eg. mysql running on a server outside of the google network) from an application running on the GAE?
I'm currently evaluating GAE for a new web application that I need to develop. I'm not convinced that the datastore is right for my needs, if I could utilise a relational database hosted elsewhere I might be interested.
