I'm also curious about the recent high latency issues. Perhaps someone at Google could clue us on as to what the cause of these is ... and when we might expect things to calm down a bit.
I have a feeling that since my app is only very lightly used it won't be kept in any system memory ... and hence won't be very responsive to requests on average ... but > 5000ms seems unacceptable even in a dynamic system such as GAE.
