We see the same behaviour. The DeadlineExceededError crops up in arbitrary locations, often within Django modules.
Further, we've seen occasions where the application instance seems to get a "poorly initialized Django" and then view lookups (e.g., with reverse()) always fail. The application instance seems to be permanently damaged and we continue to get errors from it until it is recycled.
