Yes it looks like it has resolved now. Shortly after I posted my message on Jan 7th, my application started loading without errors, though I still got errors later that day. Now (2 days later) it seems it looks quickly every time, so it looks like whatever problem it is, it got fixed thankfully. If someone from Google can elucidate what root cause was behind all these 500 errors Jan 6th - 7th, that would be great.
