Thank you for your replies. They were most helpful. I didn't quite understand the "download source code" part. I never gave it a thought before, but does that mean, that the applications are deployed to the server along with the source code (which, probably, would be logical, since they could be compiled there), or are they compiled locally and then deployed as bytecode only?
