Orca is a decent screen reader for the gnome xwindows environment. Does android support gnome?
I wonder if a screen reader could benefit from AppEngine architecture. I have little experience with mobile devices, I have written space combat automation code for an rpg, and have a little experience with the gnu environment. Jaws for windows is my current screen reader, upgrades cost $100 with SMA (Software maintenance agreement) OR roughly $1000 otherwise. Line endings, line rapping and cursor tracking ambiguities from one application to another seems to make development a challenge. Jaws may read indentation and line endings differently in the browser than it does in a text editor. Finally, lengthy chunks of text are sometimes not read in their entirety using the arrow keys. I have registered an app iBlindCoder just to get a understanding of the appengine environment. I often daydream of becoming a software engineer, and assisting in development of a new screen reader. Few screen readers can handle Google wave - none that I am aware of including jaws, nvda, and window-eyes. I found limited success using jaws 10 with internet explorer 8. That is, without Google Chrome Frame installed, with chrome frame jaws is entirely unresponsive. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group.
